David Zhang
Physiotherapist
David’s journey to becoming a physiotherapist began with his love of sports at a young age and his experience as an athlete. His time as an athlete sparked a fascination with the human body—how it adapts and grows in response to our lifestyles, hobbies, and interests. David’s personal experience with physiotherapy began early, as he navigated numerous sports-related injuries.
While competing as a varsity-level sprinter on the University of Alberta Track and Field Team, David saw firsthand how essential personalized physiotherapy treatments were for optimizing high-level training and ensuring efficient recovery. These experiences deepened his passion for understanding how to enhance the body’s performance and recovery.
David’s practice focuses on patient education and empowerment. He understands the importance of movement for every individual and recognizes that each situation is unique.
Drawing from his own experiences, he believes in not just treating injuries but equipping patients with the tools for long-term health and wellness. David has worked with diverse patient populations, ranging from individuals recovering from hip replacements to high-level athletes returning from injuries.
About me: When he’s not in the clinic, you’ll often find David on chess.com or enjoying recreational sports like hockey, volleyball, softball, or skiing.
Education:
Bachelor of Science with Specialization in Pharmacology, University of Alberta Master of Physical Therapy, University of Alberta
